Arvind and Chandan Nandlal Kilachand Honors College
The Arvind and Chandan Nandlal Kilachand Honors College is a community of students and faculty engaged in a new approach to liberal education. Blending the arts, sciences, and professions, this program exposes students to the processes, practices, and products of research, invention, and creation, across a wide range of human endeavors and academic disciplines. Students enrolled in the Honors College pursue a major in one of Boston University’s undergraduate schools and colleges, including Arts & Sciences, Management, Fine Arts, and Engineering, while completing Honors College coursework.
This combination will provide students with the communal atmosphere, small classes, and close interaction with faculty found at a small liberal arts college and the easy access to the intellectual range and resources of a major urban research university. Boston serves as more than a setting for Honors College students’ studies; it is also an essential element of their experience.
The College’s ties with Boston enable students to see what takes place behind the scenes in a variety of institutions such as art museums, theater productions, high-tech companies, and commercial start-ups. These experiences provide insight into the back story of scientific, artistic, technological, and political activity. In addition, students are required to attend co-curricular lectures, readings, and performances both on- and off-campus, which complement the curriculum and provide an opportunity to meet artists, scientists, writers, performers, physicians, judges, entrepreneurs, and educators. Students also explore Boston’s architecture, environment, and history.
