Boston University

Marika is a second-year PhD student and Hariri institute graduate student fellow in computer science at Boston University interested in data privacy, cryptography, algorithmic fairness, and the intersection of computer science, law, and policy. Prior to BU, she earned her undergraduate degree from Reed College in Portland, OR.
One of her larger goals is making computer science accessible, inclusive, and supportive of students of all races, genders, socioeconomic statuses, and abilities. Pending funding and logistics considerations due to the pandemic, sbe expects to be co-teaching an introductory CS course to students from under-supported Boston public high schools.
Another overall goal of hers is communicating to the public about the risks and harms of computing. She is an avid participant in the law and CS interdisciplinary community at BU and believes that interdisciplinary dialogues are key for good societal outcomes in computing.
