
Luz Marilis López
Luz Marilis López, PhD, MPH, is a clinical professor at Boston University School of Social Work, Global Health core director at the School’s Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health, as well as director of the dual degree program in Social Work & Public Health. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. López believes in strength-based and culturally responsive partnerships to advance health equity, social work, and public health practices in the U.S. and around the globe.
Her areas of expertise include health equity, intrafamily violence, trauma care and mental health, working with migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. She is a faculty affiliate of the Boston University Center for Forced Displacement and in this role, she collaborates with their Texas/Mexico Border Studies Program. Dr. López serves as an advisory board member of the National Hispanic and Latino Mental Health Technology Transfer Center.
