Mathew Freimuth is a current graduate student with the Boston University School of Social Work. Mathew has extensive community organizing experience in Worcester, where he lives, and in New Orleans, where he lived prior to his move to Massachusetts. Mathew’s primary foci of work and study lie at the intersections of race, class, and gender; the U.S. criminal justice system; and mental health. Mathew has experience engaging in anti-racist organizing with fellow white activists, having worked with European Dissent in New Orleans and Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) in Massachusetts. Mathew also currently works full-time as a case manager for Open Sky Community Services in Worcester, MA, where he assists formerly-incarcerated individuals with substance use and mental health disorders in reintegrating after incarceration.
