Assistant Professor of computer science 理查德·西 and doctoral student Gabriel Parmer (GRS’08) were recently awarded the top prize for a paper at the 12th annual Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications Symposium, held on April 4-7 in San Jose, Calif.

West and parmer’s recent research efforts focus on application- specific service technologies for low-cost operating systems and hardware. "This eliminates the need for proprietary hardware and software, and the associated costs of maintenance and development," West says.
