Concert to Honor Hiroshima Bombing Survivor and Peace Activist Setsuko Thurlow
Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility (GBPSR) and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War are honored to have again been selected as Community Partners for the 2019 season of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra’s (LSO) Healing Art of Music program. The concert will take place on the evening of Saturday, October 5th, 2019 at 8:00 PM at New England Conservatory’s (NEC) Jordan Hall in Boston, with proceeds benefitting our organizations’ efforts to prevent nuclear war. The concert, as well as a reception and presentation beforehand at 5:30 pm in the NEC’s Williams Hall, will feature atomic bomb survivor and renowned anti-nuclear weapons activist (and 2017 Nobel Peace Prize recipient) Setsuko Thurlow, a leader of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) who accepted the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on behalf of her colleagues.
