Highlights from BU’s 148th Commencement on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Because of the ongoing pandemic and the need for social distancing, there were two separate ceremonies, one for advanced degree graduates in the morning, one for graduating [...]seniors in the afternoon. Gone was the annual Commencement procession, as were the thousands of family members and friends cheering from the bleachers.
Noubar Afeyan, the co-founder and chairman of Moderna, Inc., addressed Class of 2021 graduate students during the advanced degree ceremony, and US Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) delivered the commencement speech to the estimated 2,903 graduating seniors a few hours later.
