Arden of Faversham
Written by Anonymous
Under the sponsorship of the Boston University English Department and the Center for the Humanities, "Arden of Faversham" was performed on March 27, 2014, by Willing [...]Suspension Productions, a group of graduate and undergraduate students dedicated to producing rarely-seen early modern plays. Alice Arden is plotting with her lover Mosby to kill her wealthy husband, Arden of Faversham. They recruit a variety of co-conspirators, from his manservant Michael, the artist Clarke, and disappointed landowner Greene to the ruffians Black Will and Shakebag. Unfortunately for the conspirators, a series of increasingly frustrating accidents thwarts their every attempt to end Arden's life, as Arden's friend Franklin becomes more and more suspicious of Alice's motives. Things finally come to a head one memorable evening at the Arden home.
