Boston University Commencement 2016

On May 15, 2016, Nina Tassler (CFA’79), Advisor and former Chairman of CBS Entertainment, delivered the commencement address at Boston University’s 143rd graduation ceremonies at BU’s Nickerson Field before more than 6,600 [...]graduates and 25,000 guests at New England’s largest graduation ceremony, during which she also received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

The prestigious list of honorary degree recipients also included Carrie Hessler-Radelet (CAS’79), Director of the Peace Corps, Doctor of Laws;
United States Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz (Doctor of Laws); and motivational speaker and founder of the Travis Roy Foundation, Travis Roy (COM’00) (Doctor of Humane Letters).

BU’s Metcalf Cup and Prize and Metcalf Awards for Excellence in Teaching were awarded to School of Public Health (SPH) Associate Professor of Global Health Christopher J. Gill (cup and prize), College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) Lecturer in the Department of Physics E. Manher Q. Jariwala (award) and CAS Associate Professor of English and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Erin Murphy (award).
