Because of the ongoing pandemic and the need for social distancing, there were two separate ceremonies, one for advanced degree graduates in the morning, one for graduating [...]seniors in the afternoon. Gone was the annual Commencement procession, as were the thousands of family members and friends cheering from the bleachers.
Noubar Afeyan, the co-founder and chairman of Moderna, Inc., addressed Class of 2021 graduate students during the advanced degree ceremony, and US Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) delivered the commencement speech to the estimated 2,903 graduating seniors a few hours later.
