Public Interest Project Auction celebrates its 20th year
2011 marked a milestone year for BU Law's student-run organization, the Public Interest Project (PIP). On March 31, PIP celebrated the 20th anniversary of its annual auction. Proceeds support BU Law students working in public interest jobs for the [...]summer.
“I like seeing it come to fruition. This is nine months of work right here. It’s nice to pull it off,†said PIP President Kasmira Brough.
PIP's three founding members, Michael Gollin (‘84), Joseph Ronson (‘85) and Daniel Van Doren (‘85), attended the event. They received distinguished alumni awards for their continued support of the organization. Dean O’Rourke also received a faculty award for service to the public interest.
The evening began with a silent auction including a wide variety of items ranging from $1,500 gift certificates for BARBRI to an electric bass. The live auction was hosted by an auctioneer from Stanley J. Paine Auctioneers who donated their services for the event.
PIP organizes a number of different fundraising efforts throughout the year, but their annual auction gala is by far the largest. This year’s auction remained a success, raising $60,544.
