January 12, 2010; my brother called me from Maryland to watch CNN. When I tuned to CNN, I saw BREAKING NEWS: Wolf Blitzer reporting about a 7.0 earthquake that hits Haiti. I had not seen any pictures or understood the impact of the earthquake. As [...]pictures began to surface, it finally sank in. I thought my aunt and cousins were dead. From what I saw, there was no way they could possibly be alive. They lived in the heart of the whole thing. I felt like I had been shot. A few days later, I learned that they were alive.
