Associate Provost for Undergraduate Affairs Amie Grills describes the Insitute’s role in the work of the Inclusive Pedagogy Working Group.

The Boston University Inclusive Pedagogy Institute welcomed its first cohort of 26 clinical faculty, graduate students, lecturers, and tenure track faculty members from across Boston University this June. The Institute, coordinated by the College of Arts & Sciences Diversity and Action Team, the Boston University Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Boston University Inclusive Pedagogy Working Group, seeks to create a unique opportunity for faculty and instructors seeking insights on innovative course design, classroom techniques, and departmental engagement practices that create inclusive, and supportive learning environments. The Institute ran from June 7 to 9, and participants will continue their work throughout the 2022-23 academic year.

Assistant Provost for Academic Assessment ad interim Meg Sullivan welcomes the cohort to the Institute.

The inaugural cohort represents Boston Medical Center, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Communications, the School of Public Health,  the School of Theology, Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, and the School of Social Work. Diversity and Inclusion Action Team members involved in the planning process include Kyna Hamill, Director, College of Arts & Sciences Core Curriculum and Master Lecturer; Swati Rani, Lecturer, College of Arts & Sciences Writing Program; Karina Sembe, Doctoral Candidate, Department of Romance Studies, and Vincent L. Stephens, Associate Dean, Diversity and Inclusion for the College of Arts and Sciences.
