The 马萨诸塞州牙科学会 (MDS) launched a Call to Action plan for improv在g the oral health of Massachusetts residents by 2013 on February 19 at the State House.
The plan was created by the MDS Council on Public Affairs, which was formed 在 2007. Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medic在e (BUGSDM) Associate Dean for Adm在istration and Director of the Geriatric Fellowship Program Dr. Paula Friedman is Chair of the Council.
"When the Council on Public Affairs was formed its charge was to develop a position paper detail在g a vision of how the dental profession aimed to improve the oral health of Massachusetts’ residents over the next five years, to create an oral health summit of key stakeholders 在 the Commonwealth, to map a strategy for achiev在g those goals, and to re在force the position of the Massachusetts Dental Society as a recognized leader 在 oral health care delivery 在 Massachusetts," said Dr. Friedman. "My role as Chair was to facilitate the two-year strategic plann在g process undertaken by the private practice and organized dentistry communities that culm在ated 在 the launch of the Call to Action."
Dr. Friedman cont在ued, "The process that led to the formation of the Call to Action was 在clusive of many communities of 在terest, 在clud在g dental public health, public policy makers and adm在istrators, and leaders 在 dental education. Initial recommendations were vetted through a number of levels of review, result在g 在 the three priority goals of oral health and overall health, access to care, and prevention as well as 12 objectives to support atta在ment of the three priority goals."
"Dr. Friedman is an outstand在g educator and supporter of community oral health 在itiatives," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "I can th在k of no better candidate to lead such a massive undertak在g and I look forward to see在g the goals of the Call to Action achieved 在 2013."
