Abdulelah Binmahfooz PROS 12 Takes Home First Prize

On Saturday, January 29, first-year AS students Mahesh Sadhnani and Sathvik Seshadri, as well as postdoctoral student Abdulelah Binmahfooz PROS 12 participated in the Student Poster Session held in the Yankee Dental Congress Exhibit Hall.

Binmahfooz took home first place in the postdoctoral category for his poster titled, “Fabrication of Screw-Retained, Metal-Acrylic Resin, Implant-Supported Complete Denture by Using CAD/CAM Technology.” His mentor for this research was Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Prosthodontics Resident’s Laboratory Dr. Gurkan Goktug.

Sadhnani and Seshardi also did an excellent job presenting their research and fielding questions by interested YDC participants. Sadhnani’s poster was titled, “Oral Health Care Disparities and Access to Care among Older Adults.” Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives Dr. Paula Friedman served as his mentor. Seshadri’s poster was titled, “Gingival Display and Smile Esthetics,” and Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Predoctoral Orthodontics Dr. Yael Frydman acted as his mentor.

“This award represents a great accomplishment by Dr. Abdulelah Binmahfooz and his mentor, Dr. Gurkan Goktug,” said Associate Dean for Research Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska. “We are very proud that our Restorative Sciences/Biomaterials Research Program contributes to the advances in dental medicine and to the scholarly mission of GSDM.”
