BUGSDM Chapter of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity Hosts Dinner
On April 10, the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Beta Epsilon Student Chapter of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity (AO) held an annual dinner honoring senior students and faculty along with the Gamma Chapter from Tufts University and the Delta Chapter from Harvard University. The dinner took place at Skipjack’s and included a ceremony initiating incoming officers and wishing outgoing officers well overseen by Master of ceremonies and AO Alumni Chapter member Dr. Steven Spitz, as well as, AO International Fraternity Past President Dr. Steven Braunstein.
Three students from BUGSDM, Steven Dolye DMD 08, Justin Craighead DMD 08, and Ryan Toth DMD 08, received awards honoring them for their dedication and leadership in the AO Student Chapter. Incoming Co-Presidents Avi Faygin DMD 10 and Julianne Doyle DMD 10 spoke about their plans for the coming year and outgoing President Mark Berger DMD 10 spoke about the past year’s activities and how much he has enjoyed serving as president.
"The highlight for me of serving as president of the BUGSDM Student chapter of the Alpha Omega Fraternity was being able to give back to the students at BUGSDM and creating events that everyone enjoyed," said Berger.
Berger also presented BUGSDM AO Faculty Advisor Dr. Emery Moskowitz-Porath with an AO Faculty Award honoring her work with their chapter.
"Dr. Moskowitz-Porath was very deserving of this award," said Berger. "She was a pleasure to work with throughout the year and truly made a memorable impact on the AO student chapter at BUGSDM."
Dr. Moskowitz-Porath was flattered by the award and added, "I’ve been a part of AO since I was a student and the organization holds a special place in my heart. It is a great organization for students to get involved with because of the opportunities it provides for camaraderie, networking, community service, and philanthropy." Dr. Moskowitz-Porath currently serves as the Treasurer for the Boston AO Alumni Chapter.
