Advanced Standing Students Prepare For Clinical Education

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Advanced Standing (AS) students prepared for work in the clinic by participating in an orientation during the week of May 26. The orientation featured five stations for students to visit, including: finance, mentor’s office, front desk, central sterilization, and mechanical chair operation.

The orientation wrapped up with a luncheon and question and answer session with Clinical Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Patient Services John Guarente. Prior to fielding questions, Guarente advised AS students to prioritize and respect the policies that the clinic has in place in order to make the most out of this next phase of their dental training.

"The clinical portion of your program will be both exciting and educational," said Dr. Guarente. "At times it will be challenging, but it will ultimately serve as a valuable learning experience."
