Welcome, Dr. Levin

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) welcomed Dr. David E. Levin to the role of Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology on Wednesday, July 1.
Dr. Levin has a BS in Biology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He also completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Francisco.
Prior to joining the faculty at GSDM, Dr. Levin was a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health for 20 years. Dr. Levin specializes in research that analyzes the molecular mechanisms by which cells detect and respond to various forms of stress, formally known as signal transduction. He focuses on medical applications, using yeast as a model system to reveal potential targets for anti-fungal drug development.
"Dr. Levin is a wonderful addition to the GSDM community," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "We are very fortunate to have him join our faculty and research team."
Dr. Levin is located in the Evans Building, E430, and can be reached at 41057 or delevin@bu.edu.
