BUSDM Researcher Honored for Mentoring Future Scientist

Intel Science Talent Search applauded Dr. Mihai Nita-Lazar, senior research associate in Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska’s Department of Molecular and Cell Biology laboratory, for contributing to the scientific development of young scientist Keone Hon.

Nita-Lazar oversaw a research project Hon, a high school student at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, completed last summer as part of an internship sponsored by the Research Science Institute, Center for Excellence in Education. Keone was a semifinalist in the 2007 Intel Science Talent Search, a prestigious science competition for high school seniors.

Dr. Nita-Lazar is “the one person who has been most influential in the development of my scientific career,” Hon says.
