CREEDD Hosts Scientific Advisory Board
BUSDM welcomed the Scientific Advisory Board of the Centers for Research to Evaluate and Eliminate Dental Disparities (CREEDD) June 5-6 for the board’s annual meeting. BUSDM’s CREEDD (the Northeast center) is one of five across the U.S. funded by NIDCR to improve oral and craniofacial health through research, research training, and dissemination of health information. Eliminating oral health disparities is a key priority of the center, which is located at 560 Harrison.
Each center reported on its progress and plans for the future. Major projects for the Northeast CREEDD include:
- Oral health-related quality of life in children and adolescents
- Microbiota of children with oral health disparities
- The effect of severe early childhood caries and comprehensive dental intervention on weight of children
- Decreasing rates of early childhood caries through a health care provider intervention
With recent reports from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey indicating an increase in early childhood caries in the U.S., CREEDD’s work is more vital than ever.
