More than 300 students, residents, faculty, and staff of Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) filled Hiebert Lounge on Monday, December 14, 2015, for the Annual GSDM Holiday Party, hosted by Dean and Mrs. Jeffrey W. Hutter. The festivities were complete with dinner, a dessert bar, live music, a photo booth, a raffle, and a gingerbread house decorating contest.

Hiebert Lounge was bustling with activity, music, and merrymaking during the Annual GSDM Holiday Party. The lounge was packed with festive decorations, and the Scarlet Jazz Ensemble from the BU College of Fine Arts provided lively music. Guests spent the evening mingling while enjoying a dinner catered by Chequers Café. For the second year in a row, the GSDM Holiday Party featured a photo booth complete with reindeer antlers, Santa hats, mustaches, quirky signs, and other fun props, which were a big hit with attendees.

Nine ingeniously decorated gingerbread houses were also on display—all of which had been decorated by teams of students, staff, and faculty earlier in the day. Guests were given tickets and instructions to vote for their favorite gingerbread house. A team of AS 17 students, who called themselves “Team Persia,” took first prize with their house; a catered lunch hosted by the Office of the Dean.

Members of the winning team were Babak Javidi Dasht Bayazi AS 17; Mahdieh Beheshti AS 17; Maedeh Sedaghati AS 17; Shahin Bayani AS 17; and Farnaz Bayani AS 17.

A raffle with several great prizes also took place. After Dean Hutter announced the winners of the raffle, he thanked all the members of the GSDM community who attended the holiday party while wishing everyone an enjoyable, restful and safe holiday season.

The winners of the raffle were Aditya Mehta AS 16; Manish Juneja AS 17; Shivani Patel DMD 16; Joey Napolitano DMD 16; Administrative Assistant in the Office of Academic Affairs Ms. Elizabeth “Liza” Young; Registrar Coordinator Ms. Annie Duong; and Operations Coordinator at the Dental Health Center Ms. Megan Shea.

“Mrs. Hutter and I always love hosting this annual event. It’s so wonderful to spend the holiday season with our GSDM family,” said Dean Hutter. “Congratulations to all of the raffle prize winners, and especially to all the members of Team Persia for their prize-winning gingerbread house.”
