See You on Comm Ave
Started the morning jammin’ to Timberlake remix and getting inspiration from a little Bobby McFerrin – I’m ready to greet new folk and strangers to tell our stories. Another in our weekly opportunities to tell your story. New Terriers are back in the house and ready to hear the stories that fill this place. Again, it’s time to give the new folk their time to know what this place is about and, for us, to show ‘em what we’ve got.
I asked for some tunes and you sent in a few. The list took a bit of an old school twist. Here’s a preview of some of the sounds from the third orientation session:
- Mr. Big Stuff by Jean Knight will make you bounce
- Girl Talk’s Give and Go keeps the bounce going
- Boogie Shoes by Queen
- Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love is a decent fit to this list
- U2’s City of Blinding Light
- Cool and the Gang rocks you with Celebration
- Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People is so summery
- Lionel Richie keeps the party going All Night Long
- So What’cha Want – Beastie Boys
- Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out has got some serious summer-swag (in honor of Clarence) – thanks Phil Stapleton
- OneRepublic’s Good Life is a mellow jam for the sun
- Kanye and T-Pain’s Good Life will put a dip in your step
- Gloria Gaynor croons to remind you that I Will Survive
- and, of course, a little Katy Perry
I’m still trying to figure out how to drop a little Eileen Barton (If I Knew You Were Comin’)
And I’m hoping the wordlist, this week, includes:
- Excite
- Improv
- Dine
- Correct
- Cake
- Scenario
- Roommate
- Rhett
- Badge
- City
- Shape
- Honor
- Fan
- Dear
- Futbol
See you on the Ave. Enjoy.
Peace.

Love Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out. RIP Clarence.
Hi:
My daughter, Kelsie and I just arrived home late last night after 2 incredible days at BU’s orientation. Kesie is now a member of the CFA’s Acting Program. We are both so excited about her acceptance at BU. This goes way back to her audition in the middle of a crazy snowstorm. Her auditor was Lydia Diamond and Kelsie just loved her experience that day. As we left to get on a bus she said, “Oh I wish I could go to school there. The school has such a great and welcoming vibe to it.” When she received her acceptance, all I heard was a big scream (actors:) )
Just thought you would like to know that we had a great time at the orientation. For me, I met so many wonderful staff and parents. There was so much helpful information. I tried to chat with you at the jazz reception but you were too popular.
Kelsie had an amazing time with the new students and her advisor Paulo was most helpful. Kelly was her student advisor and she was so friendly, energetic and just wonderful. You are all doing such a great job getting us prepared for the fall.
Sincerely,
Julie Hogue
Kelsie’s mom:)
