Reminder! Greece in the Modern World System: From Independence to Eurozone Membership A One-Credit Mini-Course (03/23/16 – 03/29/16)

The Program in Modern Greek and the Department of Classical Studies are very proud to announce a special, one-credit mini-course, sponsored by the Onassis Foundation (USA) and offered by Professor of Economics (University of Athens) and Greece’s Representative to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Michalis Psalidopoulos.

This one-credit course will be held in five sessions from March 23 to 29.  You may register for the course on-line through the Student Link by choosing CG344, EC344, HI344, or IR301.

An internationally acclaimed scholar and economist, and now a part of the team working on the current economic crisis in Greece, Professor Psalidopoulos will trace the unique history of Greece’s economic relationship with Europe from the re-emergence of an independent Greece in the nineteenth century to the present, examining the causes of particular economic phenomena and the way policy-makers have reacted to or created these situations.  The course will provide historical context for addressing the current economic crisis in Greece and the Eurozone.

There are no prerequisites but seats are limited!  For further information, please see the attached flyer.  The first meeting of the one-week mini-course will be on Wednesday, March 23, at 3:00 p.m. (JSC 201).

For further information, contact Professor L. J. Samons (ljs@bu.edu).
