Description Statement:
As part of the Novartis evaluation in Kenya data has been collected in a representative baseline survey in eight counties. The data includes prevalence data on all NCDs and treatment specific data on patients treated for hypertension, diabetes and asthma. Data on households including their GIS location, wealth, education etc. have been collected for households with treatments available.
Scope of Work:
The aim of this activity will be to produce four papers. The first will be on prevalence of NCDs in Kenya and the relationship with wealth, education, distance from health facilities, geographical factors etc. The second, third and fourth papers would describe the medicine use for hypertension, diabetes and asthma and relate these patterns of consumption to wealth, education, geography and where people purchase their medicines and what they pay for them.
Minimum Skills Desired:
Ability to work in a team, quantitative skills (STATA ideally), writing skills, ability to do a literature review, draft an article according to journal requirements. GIS skills would be an advantage.
Time/Date Expectations:
Work to begin in December 2016 and to be completed by May 2017.
