People to People exchange to Cuba – Info Session
When: Feb 24, 2015, 5 to 6pm
Where: BU School of Medicine, R-108
What: Culture, Public Health, & Social Justice – Cuba has a unique mindset and culture surrounding public health, community building, and social justice! Come explore and learn how this country has successfully used the arts and culture as essential tools in community organizing for mental and public health. Exchange directly with Cuban citizens to better understand the sociopolitical and cultural contexts that influence not only the larger health systems of Cuba, but the local community projects as well.
Special features of the trip will include:
- Panels and discussions with health professional regarding their experiences working in Cuba
- Observation of the Cuban governmental health systems
- Open cultural exchanges with artists and educators who use their passion for arts for social change
- Site visits to hospitals, non-profits organizations, and/or cooperative farms
