Summer Practicum Opportunity in Nicaragua. Spanish proficiency needed, apply by January 31st!
The Brookline Massachusetts/Quezalguaque Sister City Project is recruiting two BU MPH students for a 6-8 week practicum in an agricultural town in western Nicaragua. Students chosen for this practicum will begin collaborating with project team members this spring, in preparation for the trip, departing in mid-May.
Brookline Sister City members will accompany students to Nicaragua to get acclimated and be oriented for the first week. Students then serve as a an integral part of the multidisciplinary Quezalguaque team, cooperating with local medical and political authorities on projects related to Chronic Kidney Disease, sexual health and more.
Interested students should apply by January 31st by submitting their resume and letter of interest to Peter Stringham MD, Kea van der Ziel MD, and Peter Moyer MD. Given the necessity for students to work closely with members of the community, high proficiency in Spanish is strongly encouraged.
Still not sure if this is the right practicum for you? Read through this trip report and/or email current MPH students Emily Rodil or Julia Kern, who completed this practicum last summer and are happy to answer your questions!
