Pathfinder has over five years of experience implementing mHealth projects in seven different countries. Across these projects, Pathfinder uses a variety of mobile tools including: mobile case management applications, data collection tools, geographic information system (GIS) mapping, mobile money, and short message services (SMS) platforms. Pathfinder is currently evaluating and seeking to publish and disseminate the results of several mHealth projects.
The mHealth Research Analyst, under the direction of Pathfinder technical staff and as a member of the Technical Services Unit (TSU), will play an important role in the evaluation and dissemination of project results. Intended dissemination materials include but may not be limited to: conference presentations, technical/project reports, and peer-reviewed journal articles.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design and implementation of a mHealth implementation learning study within Pathfinder’s Services de Santé de Qualité pour Haïti project (SSQH, Haiti).
- Play a key role in the development of a manuscript for the endline results of Pathfinder’s m4Youth study (Ethiopia). This includes putting analyzed project data into manuscript format for a to be determined journal.
- Assist in the analysis and dissemination of data from Pathfinder’s mCenas Project (Mozambique). This includes supporting the qualitative analysis of data collected through the SMS project and supporting the development of a final report along with a peer reviewed manuscript for the project.
- Support the Senior Technical Advisor for mHealth to develop and complete two total cost of ownership (TCO) models on mHealth projects (Haiti and Nigeria).
- Support the development of posters and oral presentations for conferences in November related to mHealth.
Qualifications:
- Current student within a Master of Public Health (MPH), Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) or related graduate program.
- Experience in conducting quantitative or qualitative research and analysis for public health studies.

- Ability to think strategically, handle ambiguity and work in a fast-paced, limited-structure, multicultural environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sets high standards for quality of work and consistently achieves project goals
- Excellent spoken, reading and writing skills in English. Portuguese language capacity a plus as well.
- Experience working with mobile and SMS applications including: CommCare, Magpi or other Android SDK mobile applications, FrontlineSMS, RapidSMS or other mobile platforms for data collection or text messaging.
- Competency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience working with data analysis software, e.g. SAS for quantitative research analysis.
