Research intern wanted for Global mHealth Video Project
Global Health Media Project creates and disseminates clinical videos to reach low-resource, often isolated health workers who have minimal access to clinical information. Clinical videos can provide the basic practical information essential to save lives.
Two internship positions are available:
One internship focuses on dissemination of the videos through social media and improved web traffic to our site. See internship announcement for more details and how to apply.
A second intern is needed to develop a qualitative research study to test the efficacy and impact of our videos on knowledge transfer and behavior change among health workers in clinic settings in the developing world. See Global_Health_Media_Intern for additional details and how to apply.

Initiatives Inc. Internship – Lit Review on team-based approaches in Health Care Organizations
Initiatives Inc. a Boston-based, firm addressing health capacity issues for the improvement of health services in the developing world, seeks an intern for a short, Boston-based internship.
The work required by the intern would focus on conducting a literature search to find examples of how team based approaches have been used in the health and other sectors. A student interested in new concepts in HR, QI, collaboratives and teamwork could find this an assignment that would broaden his/her knowledge of today’s HR. This position is unpaid.
The final annotated bibliography would need to be start by December, and be completed by the end of February.

Haiti, the US, and every country and its citizens should have access to clean drinking and bathing water.

Intern with GlobalPost for Global Health Blog
GlobalPost 'Special Reports' is looking for a part-time intern to assist with the administration of and writing for a blog on global health issues titled GlobalPulse. They hope to find a student with a passion for the issues surrounding global health who wants to learn the skills needed to do admin on a blog. The position would also include working with a top editor on writing for the blog and editing guest posts. GlobalPost's coverage of global health is supported by the Kaiser Family Foundation.
This would be an unpaid internship that would require an initial two full days of training in our offices in Boston at Lewis Wharf. After that, the schedule would be one half day per week in the office and approximately two hours per day of flexible time to get the daily blog post published. They are looking for a self-starter who wants to be a journalist and are hoping to find someone who might be able to start as soon as possible. GRS-Vera Intern program, for those who love soccer, public health and setting up M&E systems
Grassroots Soccer and VeraSolutions have teamed together to offer an innovative, long-term practicum opportunity to learn SalesForce customized for M&E systems for public health programs in Africa. Interns will be trained to use SalesForce working for several months with clients of VeraSolutions. The work can be done part-time and remotely, except for a two-week training in New York. Thereafter, the intern does a long-term, full-time internship with Grassroots Soccer, in southern Africa, helping them refine their M&E systems in their work to engage youth and address HIV/AIDS.

TITLE: International Program Intern
PROJECT: CHAMPION (Channeling Men’s Positive Involvement in a National HIV/AIDS Response)
REPORTS TO: Senior Technical Advisor - Gender, Policy & Advocacy
EngenderHealth works to improve the health and well-being of people in the poorest communities of the world. We do this by sharing our expertise in sexual and reproductive health and transforming the quality of health care. We promote gender equity, advocate for sound practices and policies, and inspire people to assert their rights to better, healthier lives. Working in partnership with local organizations, we adapt our work in response to local needs.
CHAMPION Project (Channeling Men’s Positive Involvement in a National HIV/AIDS Response) Project which seeks to increase positive male involvement in HIV and reproductive health, is funded by USAID and led by EngenderHealth. The project is implemented in ten regions throughout Tanzania, with the main office located in Dar es Salaam. CHAMPION invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill in the International Program Intern post based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This position is open to international candidates only.
Terms of Reference:
Assist in developing, designing, and implementing operational research for social and behavior change communication interventions. In particular, the selected candidate will assist with: o Operational assessments to mount a multi-sectoral response to gender-based violence in Iringa, Mbeya and Dar es Salaam; o Process evaluation of CHAMPION’s curriculum for couples to improve the quality of their relationships and communication on issues related to sexual and reproductive health.
Document and disseminate CHAMPION activities and outcomes, including but not limited to: o Writing policy and technical briefs on any of the above research and evaluation results, as well as CHAMPION’s baseline assessment; o Documenting best practices and success stories from CHAMPION’s implementation experience; o Compiling, editing or writing advocacy communication materials.
Assist in organizing and facilitating trainings on gender, gender analysis and GBV in relation to HIV programming for government, media and NGO partners.
Assist in facilitating MenEngage advocacy network meetings and learning events.
Conduct literature searches related to gender, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and social and behavior change communication.
Carry out other duties, as needed and assigned.
Qualifications and skills required:
A demonstrated commitment to positive social change as well as a personal and professional commitment to gender equity and positive health for all
Progress toward a Masters or other advanced degree in a health-related field such as public health, demography, or development studies (courses in health communications, research, or HIV/RH a plus)
Strong oral and written English communication skills; Kiswahili skills a plus
Minimum of six months of experience with HIV and/or reproductive health in a developing country setting or in the U.S.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs and data analysis
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Leadership, networking, and team work experience
Professional experience with gender issues in reproductive health and HIV prevention
A stipend will be provided to the successful candidate.

House- and Pet-Sitter Wanted Over Intersession Break
An International Health faculty member is seeking a house-sitter to live in his house in Brookline and take care of Chewbacca and Daisy. Chewbacca is a very friendly, large, three-year old Newfoundland - Bernese Mountain Dog mix and Daisy is a 17 year old Queen who hides out in a cat’s body. We will be in DC during intersession Dec. 26th-30th.. The house is located near Brookline Village off Route 9 and is <10 minutes’ walk from the Brookline Hills T Station on the Green Line (D Line). Daily tasks are to feed and water the animals (Queen Daisy prefers fresh water from the faucet), and walk the dog twice a day. Chewie is fun to romp around with if you so desire and a car will be available at the house if you want to take her to the Arboretum or the various dog-friendly parks. The house is quite nice and comfortable and the neighborhood is safe.
