Important Dates & Information from the SPH Registrar's Office

Monday, October 6 is the last day to drop a full semester class without penalty.  Half-semester classes have customized drop dates. Not sure of the impact? Please ask us if you have any questions about dropping classes.

  • Monday, October 13: Columbus Day Holiday, no classes
  • Tuesday October 14: Follow a Monday schedule of classes; no Tuesday classes held.
  • Tuesday, October 21: Spring 2015 Course Fair, Hiebert Lounge, 4:30-6:30 PM
  • Sunday, October 26: Spring 2015 Registration Begins at 9:00 AM for all graduate students.

The spring schedule and planner are open and viewable on the Student Link.  A PDF of the SPH schedule and registration packet will be released on or about October 6.

The conference will run from 1-6pm and will consist of two keynote lectures, several TED-style presentations and a panel discussion. The event will conclude with a networking cocktail reception.

  • TED-style presentations will focus on specific applications of innovation across a range of organizations and will include examples of new technologies and collaborative models that aim to individualize patient treatment.
  • The discussion panel will connect experts from across the healthcare spectrum (delivery, pharma, global health, and health IT) to highlight opportunities for increasing patient engagement and sharing their voice in the management and delivery of care.

Unite for Sight warmly invites you to attend the 2nd annual Social Entrepreneurship Institute on Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Shubert Theater in New Haven, Connecticut.  Presented by Unite For Sight, the Social Entrepreneurship Institute provides mentoring, guidance, and successful strategies for participants to apply to their work in global health, social entrepreneurship, and international development. In addition to unique interactive sessions by leaders in global health and social entrepreneurship, the Institute also includes lunch and dinner networking receptions with the speakers.  Space is limited, and we encourage early registration.  A very reduced early bird registration rate is available through September 30.

Students for Quality Healthcare has done an amazing job putting together a panel discussion on the potential impact of the Massachusetts gubernatorial election on the future of healthcare in the Commonwealth.

The panel in on Wednesday, October 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in Bakst and includes a networking session after the panel.

ASA Student Travel Award funding to travel to Africa-application deadline October 15th!

Royal Air Maroc-ASA Student Travel Award

The African Studies Association (ASA) is pleased to announce the opening of the nomination process for the 2014 Royal Air Maroc-ASA Student Travel Award. 

The award is given every year at the ASA's Annual Meeting, and consists of one or two round-trip tickets per student between the United States and any Royal Air Maroc (RAM) destination in Africa (a list of destinations can be found on the RAM website).

In 2014, several tickets will be awarded to competitively selected students who have displayed outstanding scholarship in their area of study. Award tickets may be used to facilitate research, study abroad, and/or travel home for African students studying in the United States.

Deadline
All nominations and applications received on or before October 15th, 2014 will be considered for this year.To learn more and apply, visit the website.
