Levin

Computer Science Professor and Institute Fellow Leonid Levin has been elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS) elected 204 new members to the 2014 class. They include some of the world’s most accomplished scholars, scientists, writers, artists, and civic, corporate, and philanthropic leaders. One of the nation’s most prestigious honorary societies, the Academy is also a leading center for independent policy research. Members contribute to Academy publications and studies of science and technology policy, energy and global security, social policy and American institutions, and the humanities, arts, and education.

Members of the 2014 class include winners of the Nobel Prize; the Wolf Prize; the Pulitzer Prize; National Medal of the Arts; MacArthur, Guggenheim, and Fulbright Fellowships; and Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.

This special recognition is reserved for only a handful of the nation’s top Computer Scientists. It’s a recognition of Professor Levin’s immense influence over the field of Computer Science, and a point of honor for him, for the Computer Science Department, for Boston University, and indeed for the AAAS. Congratulations Leonid!
