Early modern historian appointed to department

Early modern historian appointed to department Phillip Haberkern has accepted the department’s offer of a position as assistant professor in the field of early modern European history. He holds a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton during the current academic year, and will therefore begin his appointment in September 2011. Haberkern received his BA in Religious Studies and Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his MTS in Christianity and Culture from Harvard Divinity School, and his MA and PhD in History from the University of Virginia, the doctorate in 2009. His dissertation was entitled “The Presence of the Past: History, Memory, and the Making of St. Jan Hus,” written under the direction of Professor Erik Midelfort. The department looks forward to welcoming Professor Haberkern to Boston University.
