BU Hub News: April Updates

April 4, 2018:

The first students who will participate in the BU Hub have been admitted to Boston University, and open house events are underway. Below are a few important updates as we prepare for the arrival of the Class of 2022:

  • The BU Hub website is now live! Please visit and explore the new website at www.bu.edu/hub. Here you will find information about the Hub for students, advisors, faculty, and staff. *Note: as of August 30, 2018, the For Faculty & Staff section is also live with information and Hub resources for faculty and staff. The Task Force on General Education website is now retired.
  • The BU Hub Requirements for Students flyer has been redesigned. Please take a look and download the new flyer. *Note: this flyer is current as of Summer 2019.
  • The University Council General Education Committee (GEC) continues its review of courses submitted by faculty for inclusion in the Hub. More than 380 Hub courses have now been approved. With many introductory level courses now available, we are beginning to focus on upper level courses and new course development. Courses for the 2019-20 academic year (sophomore level and beyond) may be submitted to the GEC on an ongoing, rolling basis through early Fall 2018.
  • The BU Hub Cross-College Challenge (XCC) is now seeking faculty from all disciplines to co-teach pilot XCC sections next year. Faculty interested in teaching in Fall 2018 should apply or contact xcc@bu.edu.
  • The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) continues to support the development of Hub courses and cocurricular learning experiences through workshops, institutes, office hours, consultations, and online resources. This May and June, the CTL will be offering multiple opportunities for developing or revising a course for the Hub. For more information (including registration information), please visit the CTL website.
  • The GEC Interpretive Documents, which describe the committee’s interpretation of Hub Learning Outcomes and policies, now include a document on Research & Information Literacy that may be helpful in developing proposals and preparing to teach Hub courses.
