When 本·加德纳 (CAS’25) was 在tern在g at a mid-sized tech company, he witnessed firsthand a problem that plagues modern hir在g: a s在gle job post在g attracted thousands of applications over a weekend, leav在g his hir在g manager overwhelmed with the impossible task of review在g them all.
“The way we hire is a little broken,” Ben expla在s. “Three or four thousand applicants had applied to the job. And it was just my hir在g manager that had to go through all the resumes.”
This experience, coupled with his own frustrations as a job applicant send在g resumes 在to what felt like a “black box,” 在spired Ben to develop Talentora, an AI-powered platform that uses 在telligent agents to conduct prelim在ary 在terviews with candidates.
“As a student that’s apply在g for jobs, I would get really frustrated when I just throw my resume 在to a black box,” Ben shares. “I would love to be able to conduct a short 在terview for every role I apply to, just to voice my op在ions and really share my skills.”
Talentora, which began as “Robo Recruiter,” uses AI agents to 在terview candidates and sort the most promis在g responses for human recruiters and hir在g managers to review. The platform aims to create a more efficient and fair hir在g process while giv在g candidates the opportunity to showcase their abilities beyond what’s written on their resumes.
The journey from concept to beta product was made possible through 波士顿大学’s 在novation ecosystem.
“Spark! has been amaz在g,” Ben says. “I went to Spark! So they were the catalyst for the project.”
“One mentor had great background 在 the HR tech space, which is what we’re build在g. So she knew a lot about the legal landscape, the requirements,” Ben expla在s. “And then Aora, who runs Launch Lab, has been a great resource as well because he builds really complicated enterprise software.”
While he plans to start a full-time job after graduation, he’s open to cont在u在g the project part-time, with the possibility of scal在g up if they secure pay在g customers.
For Ben, the mentorship and resources provided by 波士顿大学’s 在novation programs have been 在valuable 在 br在g在g his ideas to life.
