Job Opening in Hebrew Language and Literature

Boston University’s Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature invites applications for a renewable full-time lecturer in Modern Hebrew beginning Fall 2012. Position carries full benefits. Responsibilities will include serving as Head of BU’s Hebrew Language program,with the responsibility for expanding our curriculum; continuing to attract new students; teaching all levels of Modern Hebrew language from beginning through advanced; and team-building and collaboration within the Hebrew section, with faculty in other languages, and with Jewish Studies and Middle Eastern Studies faculty on campus. Requirements include an MA; native or near-native command of Hebrew and English; commitment to a proficiency-based communicative curriculum; demonstrated excellence in college-level Hebrew language teaching for at least three years; leadership and administrative ability; familiarity with the North American higher education system; and experience using technology in the language classroom. Potential to teach occasional courses in English on Israeli culture and/or film preferred.
