Previous alums to receive the Garo award include 帕梅拉·希尔（1977年）, who runs BU Law’s 环境法实习, 维罗妮卡·塞拉托（1988届）, executive director of Project Citizenship, and Richard Ney（78届）, who spent most of his career as a public defender before founding his firm, Ney & Adams.
The BU Law 公益性服务 程序 enables students to engage in 公益性服务 work on the state, national, and international levels. By taking the 公益性服务 pledge, JD students commit to complete a minimum of fifty hours of law-related 公益性服务 work over the course of their three years in law school. 法学硕士课程的学生承诺完成至少18个小时的学习。

“The event [accomplishes] three things: introducing students to 公益性服务 work at BU Law and beyond,” says Carolyn Goodwin, director of public service & 公益性服务. “其次，我们为学生们提供了一个见面的论坛，最后，我们真的在庆祝和认可那些做出改变的校友的工作。”
