Boston University School of Law is partnering with the School of Law, NMIMS, Bengaluru, India, to organize the International Conference on “Emerging Global Dimensions of Human Rights in the Contemporary Era.” The conference will take place on Friday, July 21, 2023, on Zoom and on the NMIMS campus in Bengaluru. As two institutions dedicated to preparing students for productive and influential careers in human rights law, the objective of our collaboration is to provide a platform for scholars, activists, lawyers, and other stakeholders from across the globe to reflect on human rights issues and advocate for positive change. The conference aims to contribute to the public dialogue and to promote the need to build structures and frameworks that enhance respect and protection of human rights for all.
Human rights law scholars and those working in related fields are encouraged to register and share their research on this important issue. The registration fee will be waived for all BU faculty, students, and alumni. Participants not affiliated with BU should contact nmblrconference@gmail.com for more information.
The organizing committee welcomes original papers related to but not limited to the following broad themes:
- Changing contours of gender justice in the current century
- Corporate liability under international human rights law
- Climate change and environmental justice
- Sustainable development and human rights
- Equality, non-discrimination and human rights
- Health as a human right
Authors are free to submit an abstract and/or paper on any other topic relevant to the theme of the conference. Please email questions to: nmblrconference@gmail.com.

Abstract and Paper Submission
An abstract (of about 150 – 300 words) should be sent as an attachment in .docx format. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed before they are accepted.
Please include the following information on the first page of your abstract:
- Title of abstract
- Name(s) of author/co-authors
- Author’s professional title
- Author’s school or company affiliation
- Contact phone number
- Email address
- Keywords relevant to your topic (include 4 to 6 words)
Submit your abstract here. Co-authorship by up to 2 authors is permitted. Co- authors should register separately. Please note that June 15 is a firm deadline for abstract submission.
Full Paper Submission
Once your abstract has been accepted, author(s) are required to submit the full-length paper according to the following guidelines:
- Recommended paper length: 4000-5500 words (including footnotes)
- File format: .doc or.docx format on 8.5 x 11 paper with one-inch margins.
- Acceptable font: Times New Roman, 12, with line spacing 1.5 and alignment ‘justify.’ Font size for the footnotes shall be Times New Roman 10, with 1 spacing.
- Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st Edition) shall be followed for footnoting.
- Submissions should be the original work of the contributors. Full paper must be accompanied by a declaration of originality and non-submission/publication elsewhere.

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) was founded by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) in 1981 to cater to the growing demand for management education.
