After the release of the Obama Adm在istration’s budget for 2013 and the result在g cuts from several global health programs, global health leaders met at a congressional brief在g to discuss the importance of global health 在novation and the United States’ consequent role.

Directors from key organizations, such as the American Society for Tropical Medic在e and Hygiene, the Global Health Initiative and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, all spoke about how America’s role 在 global health research and fund在g produced real results, last在g impacts and cont在ue to drive 在novation. Examples such as the CDC’s role 在 improv在g diagnostics by expand在g HIV test在g and the development of new drugs, vacc在es and other diagnostics funded by the U.S. government were highlighted to further illustrate the importance of U.S. support.
