Prof. Henrik Selin Presents on E-Waste Management
Pardee Research Fellow Prof. Henrik Selin was invited to be a Resource Person at a week-long meeting on Asian e-waste governance organized by the Asian Productivity Organization in Taipei this week. He first presented on Oct 12, Monday, on European Union E-Waste Management. On Oct 15, he presented on Strategies for Regulating and Managing E-waste. His presentations built on Pardee Paper No. 5 – Managing Hazardous Chemicals: Longer-Range Challenges that Prof. Selin published with the Pardee Center in the Spring.
The purpose of the meeting was to invite representatives of governments, industry, and academia to discuss options for improving e-waste governance in APO member states and across the region. At the end of the meeting, participants at the meeting provided the APO and member states with recommendation for enhancing e-waste management with the purpose of promoting sustainable development.
Prof. Selin is an assistant professor in Boston University’s International Relations Department. He has written and edited numerous journal articles and books on climate change and hazardous substances and wastes.
