Applications Invited for the Sept 2012 or Jan 2013 Post-Doctoral Position
Pardee Post-Doctoral Fellowship for September 2012 or January 2013
Review of applications begins March 19, 2012
The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for a year-long appointment, beginning in either September 2012 or January 2013. Researchers working on issues related to (a) measurement and evaluation of progress in human development and well-being, (b) engineering as applied to development or public health issues or (c) connections between human development, ecology and public health in developing countries, are especially encouraged to apply.
We are interested in candidates with strong analytical skills, substantive knowledge and experience, and an interest and ability to analyze longer-range trends and policy options in a global perspective. The Post-Doc Research Fellow will participate and help develop research programs in these areas at the Pardee Center and join a community of scholars who seek to conduct interdisciplinary, policy-relevant, and future-oriented research that contributes to long-term improvements in the human condition. Our research seeks to identify, anticipate, and enhance the long-term potential for human progress— with recognition of its complexity and uncertainties.
The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will have the ability to develop his/her own research projects (including collaborative initiatives) and will conduct original research, produce scholarly publications, and disseminate findings at the Pardee Seminar Series and other venues. The Post-Doctoral Fellow also will be expected to participate in other Pardee Center research activities and to participate in the general intellectual life of Boston University.
Applications for the fellowship are welcome from recent recipients of PhD or equivalent degrees. In special circumstances applications from advanced ABD doctoral candidates may also be considered. The post-doctoral fellowship is a full-time position for up to 12 months. Successful candidates will be expected to work at the Pardee Center for the entirety of their appointment. Boston University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
Review of applications will begin on March 19, 2012. Please submit a letter of intent and research interests, a CV, brief samples of written work, the contact information for three academic references, and the preferred start date (September 2012 vs January 2013) via email to: gsfellow@bu.edu, using Post-Doc Fellowship and your last name (e.g. Post-Doc Fellowship – Smith) in the subject line.
