Next Pardee Seminar on Capital Account Regulations and Trade

Capital Account Regulations PosterThe Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future is pleased to announce the April Pardee House Seminar titled Capital Account Regulations and the Trading System: A Compatibility Review. The seminar will take place Friday, April 12, 2013 from noon until 1:30 pm.  This Pardee House Seminar focuses on the newly released Pardee Center Task Force Report, also titled Capital Account Regulations and the Trading System: A Compatibility Review. Pardee Faculty Fellow Kevin P. Gallagher will moderate, and Deborah E. Siegel and Leonardo E. Stanley will give talks. All three contributed to the new report, which is a follow-up to the 2012  Pardee Center Task Force Report titled Regulating Global Capital Flows for Long-Run Development. Both reports are part of the Global Economic Governance Initiative, led by Prof. Gallagher.

The Seminar will be held at Pardee House, 67 Bay State Road. (Lunch will be available from 11.30am, seminar starts at 12.00pm). Seating is limited. Please RSVP by April 8th by registering here.

Kevin P. Gallagher is a Pardee Faculty Fellow and an Associate Professor at the department of International Relations at BU. Prof. Gallagher is the Principle Investigator at the Pardee Center Global Economic Governance Initiative, the Faculty Coordinator for Boston University’s Global Development Program and is a research associate at the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University.

Deborah E. Siegel is a former Senior Counsel at the International Monetary Fund where for nearly two decades she worked in the Legal Department and the Office of Internal Audit.  Her specialties include international trade, with a focus on the relationship of the World Trade Organization with the IMF, as well as anticorruption laws and ethics for government officials. She is now an independent consultant.

Leonardo E. Stanley has held positions such as Associate Researcher in the Department of Economics, CEDES, Researcher at the MERCOSUR Economic Research Network, and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the School of Economics, UBA. Latest works include CENIT-GDAE-RIS “Towards Inclusive and Development-Friendly Global Economic Governance” for the Ford Foundation. He has also published a series of essays on “Capital Controls: Macro – Micro and Institutional issues, a comparison among Asian and Latin American countries”.
