Henrik Selin Quoted in Science about New International Mercury Treaty

Pardee Center Faculty Fellow Henrik Selin was quoted in the September 27 issue of Science magazine about the new Minamata Convention on Mercury to be finalized in Japan this week.  The article titled “With Pact’s Completion, The Real Work Begins,” is part of the journal’s special coverage on the treaty and mercury’s impact on the environment and human health. Prof. Selin, who traveled to Japan to observe the adoption of the treaty, told Science, “Under no circumstances do I think this treaty is a silver bullet.”

Prof. Selin, who has been closely following the treaty development and negotiations, moderated a Pardee House Seminar on the topic in Feburary 2013 and is the author of a recent Pardee Center Issues in Brief paper about the treaty.
