Pardee Center Seeks Graduate Research Assistants

The Frederick S Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Range Future seeks up to four research assistants to join us in the Spring 2010 Semester as part of the Center’s Africa 2060 program. The Research Assistants will help research, conceptualize and analyze development data to identify trends on African development. They will also assist in organizing a Pardee Center Conference on Africa’s future, to be held in April 2010. We are interested in graduate students with strong analytical and quantitative skills, good writing ability, and an interest and ability to study continent-wide (or sub-regional), longer-range trends and prospects in human development in Africa.
The research assistants will:
- Research and identify key trends important to current and future African development and produce short write-ups on these trends.
- Serve as rapporteur for one session at the Africa 2060 Conference and produce a written report on it.
- Assist, as needed, on the Pardee Center Africa 2060 project, including conference organization.
Qualifications:
- Current graduate student with substantive knowledge and a focus on African development.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and good writing ability.
- Ability to conduct independent research.
- Ability to commit to working 8-10 hours a week for the Spring 2010 Semester at the Pardee Center at Boston University, including the week of the Africa 2060 Conference (to be held, April 16, 2009).
