With climate change policy as well as climate change science being so much in the news recently, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future is proud to welcome Dr. Bert Metz to lead the first Pardee House Seminar of this semester – “Controlling Climate Change After Copenhagen” – on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.

Dr. Metz was the co-Chair of the IPCC Working Group III for the Third and Fourth IPCC Assessments, work for which the IPCC was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Dr. Metz has also served as a chief negotiator for the Netherlands and the European Union in the period leading up to the Kyoto Protocol. He will introduce his new book “Controlling Climate Change” (Cambridge University Press) and lead a discussion on the future of global climate policy and science, especially in the aftermath of the recent Copenhagen negotiations.

The Seminar will be held at Pardee House (67 Bay State Road, Boston) on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.

The Pardee Seminar Series focuses on a variety of issues and invites experts from different disciplines to discuss the long-range challenges and trends in that particular issue.

Lunch will be available from 11.30am, and the seminar itself will start at 12.00pm. Please RSVP to pardee@bu.edu by Monday, February 1, 2010. Seating is limited to 30 participants.
