Speight教授曾担任Leuphana Universität l<e:2> neburg的富布赖特教授（2012年），柏林美国科学院柏林奖澳门威尼斯人注册网站研究员（2003年），德国学术交流服务中心澳门威尼斯人注册网站研究员（DAAD， 1990年）和Ruhr-Universität波鸿黑格尔档案馆的富布赖特学者（1991-92年）。 Speight教授曾两次获得本科哲学协会的卓越教学奖，并获得学院荣誉项目杰出教学奖。 在来波士顿大学之前，Speight教授曾在芝加哥圣泽维尔大学和芝加哥大学任教，并在那里主持了大学的成人自由教育基础课程。
