Zhang to Join European Academy of Sciences and Arts

Distinguished Professor of Engineering Xin Zhang (ME, ECE, BME, MSE) has been elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), a learned society of 2,000 members, including more than 30 Nobel Prize Laureates. Members are elected for outstanding achievements in science, arts and governance, and their exceptional standing in society as a result of their scientific […]

Michael Albro

Dr. Albro has dedicated much of his research toward the role of mechanical loading in biological tissues, namely through the progression and treatment of osteoarthritis. In doing so, he hopes to advance the strategies of engineering tissue cartilage at a molecular level.

Stephan Anderson

As Section Chief of Abdominal Imaging in the Department of Radiology at the BU Medical Center, Dr. Anderson has an extensive history in the field of radiology. He is the author of one book, as well as eight book chapters, all discussing body imaging, and has a wide range of experience in the imaging of […]

Xin Zhang

Professor Xin Zhang’s scholarly endeavors are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of metamaterials and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS or microsystems), spanning from elucidating their fundamental physics and mathematical underpinnings to crafting their design, development, and practical implementation in real-world scenarios. The ultimate success in developing these material and system classes hinges both on a rigorous understanding […]

Alice White

With over 125 publications and 7 patents issued/pending, she is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the IEEE Photonics Society, and the Optical Society of America. She is also conducting research as part of CELL-MET, a multi-institutional National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center in Cellular Metamaterials (EEC-1647837). CELL-MET aims to grow functional and clinically […]

Brian Walsh

Professor Walsh’s research interests include space and plasma dynamics in planetary space environments. Of particular interest are the plasma interactions in the near-Earth environment and the coupling of energy from the sun into Earth’s magnetic system. As an experimentalist, Dr. Walsh is involved in a number of ongoing NASA spacecraft missions.

Andre Sharon

Prof. Andre Sharon has accumulated over 20 years of experience, both academic and industrial, conducting research, developing, and deploying computer-controlled automation systems, devices and instruments for several industries, ranging from sub-micron, high-precision machinery for optoelectronics, biotech/biomedical, and semiconductor fabrication to high-speed assembly of consumer products. As Director of the Fraunhofer Center for Manufacturing Innovation and […]

Catherine Klapperich

Dr. Klapperich’s research is focused on engineering medical devices for trans women’s and women’s health, use in low resource settings, and at the point of care. Current projects include on-body physiological monitoring, disposable microfluidic diagnostics and minimally instrumented devices to enable molecular testing. Her work includes diagnostics for CT-NG, HPV and other sexually transmitted infections.
