Professor Ammerman to Serve as Director of Graduate Division of Religious Studies

Professor Nancy Ammerman will serve a two-year term as Director of the Graduate Division of Religious and Theological Studies (DRTS). The DRTS “is Boston University’s home for academic graduate study of religion and theology. [Their] mission is to train scholars of religion who will distinguish themselves through research, teaching, and service to universities, colleges, seminaries, and the world at large.” (1)
Professor Ammerman has been a member of Boston University since 2003, and previously served as Chair of the Sociology Department from 2007 until this past June. Her most recent book, “Sacred Stories, Spiritual Tribes: Finding Religion in Everyday Life,” was published earlier this year, and “examines the stories Americans tell of their everyday lives, from dinner table to office and shopping mall to doctor’s office, about the things that matter most to them and the routines they take for granted, and the times and places where the everyday and ordinary meet the spiritual.” (2)
