The study found that 65 percent of the brick kiln owners adopted these changes, which led to a 23-percent reduction in energy use. These findings are promising, as previous efforts to regulate the brick kiln industry have been unsuccessful in Bangladesh, where workers produce 270亿块砖 annually in harsh working conditions.
