More than 300 people gathered at the State Room in downtown Boston on November 17th for a gala marking the School of Public Health’s 40th anniversary.

Danza Orgánica, a social justice-oriented dance theater company based in Roxbury, performed part of a soon-to-premier piece, Running in Stillness, which confronts the effects of mass incarceration.
Janice L. Cooper of the Carter Center Liberia Mental Health Program received a Beyond Health Award.
Larry Kessler, founding director of the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, also received a Beyond Health Award.
Kathryn Brinsfeld (’01), assistant secretary and chief medical officer for the US Department of Homeland Security, received a Distinguished Alumni Award.
Mark A. Keroack (‘00), president and CEO of Baystate Health, received a Distinguished Alumni Award.
A Distinguished Alumni Award also went to Hania Dawani (‘86), mental health and nursing consultant, faculty in health sciences at Higher Colleges of Technology, and adjunct professor at California State University, Northridge.
