Why did you choose SPH?

“W

The school was a great fit in many ways in my life—I felt that BUSPH would challenge me intellectually by exposing me to subject matter I was not previously familiar with, and simultaneously solidifying the information I learned from my undergraduate degree. Additionally, I wanted a school that would give me the tools to succeed after graduating. BUSPH has many resources and is located in the best public health city to apply for jobs after graduation.”

What’s different about SPH?

“BUSPH offers numerous opportunities for its students through research, public health practice, and leadership positions on campus. In fact, students may even feel overwhelmed with involvement opportunities when they first get to campus but BUSPH encourages students to participate in activities other than our school work. Within a week, there are Public Health Conversations, student socials, and informative sessions from the Career and Practicum office. One of the best services on campus is the Career and Practicum office— the staff is dedicated to the student’s success and supports them through the internship and job search through mock interviews, resume reviews, and one-on-one guidance. Lastly, Dean Galea cares so much for the SPH community and wants everyone to feel welcomed, supported, and heard. He actively ensures students get the best experience at BUSPH.”

What would you tell prospective students?

“BUSPH is a special place! It’s a space to learn and grow in, and also feel challenged and supported in the frustration you may feel when learning about the injustices in the world. The people you will meet at SPH are working with you to create a healthier world by using the tools and knowledge from the classroom and putting them into practice. Our professors, faculty, and alumni are committed to advancing public health through an inclusive and accessible lens to improve health for all people.”
