Assistant Professor Guillermo Ernest Gonzales Awarded Peter Paul Professorship at Boston University

Boston University School of Social Work Assistant Professor, Guillermo Ernest Gonzales, PhD, has been awarded a highly competitive Peter Paul Professorship at Boston University. The Professorship includes a three-year award of funds and a teaching load reduction to support Gonzales’ research goals. Deans and department heads nominate candidates annually, and President A. Brown and Provost Jean Morrison select the awardees.

“It’s a real vote of confidence for them,” Morrison told BU Today’s Amy Sutherland. “It demonstrates that we have confidence in their potential and are putting the resources behind that.”

The professorship is named for BU trustee Peter Paul (GSM ’71) who donated $1.5 million to the University in 2006 to fund 10 professorships over five years. Paul has increased his overall commitment to the program to $2.5 million.
